April 30th Main Lake Water Temp. Lower 60s
The Lake elevation is 3781.16 Storage is 156,700 acre ft.
The Main Lake is stained.
Fishing for most species is still very good. The upcoming weekend's weather forecast looks to be decent, for a change. Hopefully that won't change!
Trolling for White Bass is very good from Horseshoe Bend to the Bell Ranch House. #5 Flicker Shad seem to be working the best but other Lures that run 8 to 12 feet are also catching Whites. They are moving into the mouths of of the coves which is the usual pattern for Spring and Summer.
Walleye are good both casting with Rapala Shad Raps and trolling with #7 Flicker Shad. The best casting bite is in Ute Creek. Main flats and underwater humps seem to be the best area for trolling.
Male Crappie are moving up into 12 to 20 feet of water over submerged brush. Live minnows and Road Runners are both working some.
Catfish are fair using Danny King's Punch Bait.
Kenneth Cox and I were on the water for a few hours Monday afternoon and the best bite for us was coming on Bootlegger Shad rigged on 1/4 oz. Jig Heads. I was using one of our new casting jigs, the Weed Guard Freestyle Jig, and it is a winner. I threw the Swim Bait shallow all afternoon and never hung up. We caught both Smallmouth and White Bass in 5 to 12 feet of water, mostly on points in Antelope Canyon.
It is time for the Logan Bass Club's Big Bass Tournament. This is a fun tournament to fish and the pay out is good!
